An afternoon of all things gansey with Deb Gillanders. A close fitting knitted garment worn by sailors around the coast the gansey is an iconic and practical item of clothing. Whitby's resident gansey guru Deb will be giving a talk, discussion and display about the history, manufacture and design of the gansey. Come along and find out more about this iconic item, aimed at those both new to, and very familiar with the gansey. We invite you to bring along your own gansey to the event, if you have one, and share the passion and enthusiasm for this traditional style of knitting with other like minded people. Entrance to the event includes refreshments. Members of Whitby Lit & Phil tickets £3.50, non-members £7.50.
