Looking for proof that Indiana is a great place to be a writer, reader, and lover of all things literary?

Join Indiana Humanities at the Harrison Center for the Arts (1505 N. Delaware St., Indianapolis, IN 46202) for the inaugural Proof: A Midwest Lit Fest on Saturday Oct. 5, 2024 from 10am–8pm Eastern.

Proof will celebrate the power of writing that grows in the Midwest. Things to look forward to: a book fair with local booksellers; conversations about the literary Midwest; local and regional author readings; opportunities to connect with publishers and literary magazines; workshops led by experienced writers; bookish activities for all ages; food, drink, music, games, and prizes!

Proof is free and open to the public, though we encourage you to register so we can let you know about exciting festival updates. A full schedule will be released in early September.

The festival aims to be a space for everyone to experience great writing and maybe even draft some of your own. Proof is a place where we can come together to celebrate our community, build new relationships, and pick up a new book while we're at it.

Proof: A Midwest Lit Fest has been developed by local poets Mitchell L.H. Douglas and Chantel Massey in partnership with Indiana Humanities, home of the Eugene and Marilyn Glick Indiana Authors Awards. We also offer thanks to Tomorrow Bookstore, Dream Palace Books and Coffee, the Indiana Young Readers Center at the Indiana State Library for their support in the early days of festival planning. We also thank our sponsors, The National Bank of Indianapolis, the Penrod Society, and the Harrison Center for the Arts.
