Join us for a very special workshop with Sarah Carter-Bell, Knowledge Exchange Manager at UK Parliament!
About this Event

MetroPolis are delighted to welcome Sarah Carter-Bell (Knowledge Exchange Manager, UK Parliament) to Manchester Met.

Sarah manages the highly respected Knowledge Exchange Unit (KEU) at UK Parliament. In case you aren’t aware of their work, KEU exist to connect the parliamentary and research communities to enable and diversify engagement and draw on the best available evidence to enhance parliament’s scrutiny, evidence and legislative functions. They are the first point of contact for researchers within parliament and offer training, advice, resources, and fellowship opportunities.

This is a very exciting opportunity to learn more about KEU, the support they offer, and get Sarah’s top tips for promoting your research to UK Parliament. You will also have the opportunity to let Sarah know of any barriers you face when trying to engage with Parliament.

This session is open to Manchester Met researchers of all career stages; whether you are a dab hand at policy engagement, or just beginning to think about the policy impact of your research.

About the workshop lead

Sarah Carter-Bell is the Knowledge Exchange Manager within UK Parliament.

Sarah started her dual career working as a psychologist specialising in therapeutic intervention which ignited her passion for research and its practical applications. She combined this with education management and policy roles across a range of policy making organisations including non-departmental public bodies, government departments, and within a local council. Alongside her current parliamentary role Sarah also works at her local university supporting a policy advice mechanism for the Vice Chancellor and Executive team. Sarah enjoys the balance provided by the two roles as she is uniquely positioned to understand the challenges facing researchers and universities alongside the in-depth research mobilisation required for successful engagement with Parliament.
