Le film est réalisé par Helen Doyle, une scénariste et réalisatrice québécoise renommée pour ses documentaires, souvent consacrés à la condition féminine. En 1973, elle co-fonde le collectif La femme et le film, devenu Vidéo Femmes en 1979, dédié à la diffusion et à la production de vidéogrammes réalisés par des femmes. Helen Doyle utilise des approches variées, telles que le cinéma expérimental, la fiction et le docufiction, pour aborder des thèmes féministes avec force et originalité.
