From antlers to adaptations and beaks to biomes, explore hands-on, interdisciplinary activities that bring wildlife education to life — in classrooms, nature centers, and beyond.NHSM is hosting a Project WILD training just for educators who are wild about wildlife. Whether you teach in a classroom, lead scout groups, run homeschool programs, or guide visitors at a nature center, this hands-on workshop will give you fresh, fun ways to connect people with nature.
Join Sarah Witcher, wildlife biologist and educator with the Department of Natural Resources, for an interdisciplinary adventure into the world of wildlife education. Some of the activities you may learn firsthand include:
- Learn to “Interview a Spider” and bring animal adaptations to life through creative roleplay
- -Run the “Monarch Marathon” to explore migration and survival challenges
- -Track wildlife with “Tracks!” and uncover the stories animals leave behind
- -Play “Oh Deer!” to simulate population dynamics and habitat needs
- -Map habitats, graph animal sightings, and explore ecological niches — all while aligning with STEM and cross-curricular goals
Upon completion, you’ll receive your own copy of the award-winning Project WILD guide, packed with over 100 lesson plans, STEM extensions, career connections, and creative ideas for any educational setting.
CPD credits are available, and the workshop is open to educators of all stripes — from K–12 teachers to informal educators, scout leaders, and beyond. If you’re ready to make wildlife education wildly engaging, this is the training for you!
