Paul Kragh provides an overview of how to observe, protect, and nurture the state Threatened Florida burrowing owl. Why is the Florida burrowing owl listed as Threatened? Are manmade owl colonies a solution? We will discuss what is being done for the Florida burrowing owl and how you can help. (Please note: A pair of taxidermy owls and an artificial burrow will be on display.)
About the instructor: Paul Kragh is the Director of Burrowing Owl Conservation for Project Perch Inc. This not-for-profit group of volunteers is dedicated to the preservation of the tiny subterranean owl. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission has recognized Paul as a registered agent for the Florida burrowing owl.
