Project Pennar ft. James Copus – “Journeys Abroad”

Project Pennar ft. James Copus is an international collective that brings together a sextet from Estonia, Germany, US and Latvia led by guitarist Karl Madis Pennar (EST) and is featured by James Copus (UK). Mr. Copus is an award-winning musician from London who is rapidly establishing himself as one of the most exciting trumpet players anywhere on the jazz scene. The group presents an oven-fresh musical journey composed by Pennar and named “Journeys Abroad”. It is a sequel to Karl’s trio Pennar & Friends’s debutalbum “Stories Untold” that was released in August 2021. Adding trumpet, saxophone and piano to his trio has given him even wider spectrum and more means to express all the stories of his journey.

Six very good friends and established musicians – Jason Hunter (US) on the trumpet, Kristers Laurins (LAT) on the saxophone, Mathei Florea (EST) on the keyboards, Niklas Tikwe (GER) on the bassguitar, Henning Katz (GER) on the drums together with Pennar on the electric guitar bring to the audience beautiful melodies, catchy beats and grooves, spiced up with electronic effect pedals combined with vulnerable honesty and their individual musical roots. Project Pennar is here to ignite a positive bright spark of hope, love, joy and togetherness with their music in this tiny world we’re living in and reach out to every sad soul to spread positive vibrations.
