Do you like owls? Would you like the chance to maybe see one? Well, the probability of seeing one on your couch is very low. But you will greatly improve your odds if you come out to Sewickley Heights Borough Park during the evening of November 8 and see Project Owlnet in action ( https://www.aviary.org/conservation/community-science/project-owlnet/ ). OWLS ARE NOT GUARANTEED, but at the time of this writing, weather conditions looked favorable for saw-whet owl migration.Bring a friend, bring your kids, bring some rando you kidnapped from the grocery store*. All are welcomed to come and learn about the important science of monitoring bird migrations and maybe, just maybe, get a close look at an owl.
See the website for more details, but this is a come-and-go-as-you-please event. You'll want to dress warmly, and bring a headlamp or flashlight. One caveat, from the school of "Know Thy Audience": alcoholic beverages are not permitted at SHDP.
* this is a joke. Do not do this.
