PROJECT IMPACT:
Project ImPACT is recognized as one of the most effective coaching programs for parents of young children (up to age 6) with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and other social communication challenges. Research on parent mediated intervention for children with autism spectrum disorder and related social communication challenges shows that it is an effective treatment approach that leads to improvements for the child and family. Project ImPACT targets core skills in four areas of social communication: Social engagement, communication and language, imitation, and play. It is a naturalistic developmental behavioural intervention, or NDBI, that uses evidence-based intervention strategies to promote the child’s social communication. NDBI is a newer class of interventions that has been informed by the fields of developmental and communication sciences and applied behaviour analysis, or ABA. You can find more information about Project Impact at https://www.project-impact.org/.
