About this Event

Workshop Overview: Introduction to the Youth Program Quality Intervention and Program Quality Assessment

This comprehensive workshop introduces youth developers to the Youth Program Quality Intervention (YPQI) and Program Quality Assessment (PQA), equipping them to conduct effective self-assessments. It is primarily designed for site staff, especially site leads, but is also suitable for those pursuing the External Assessor track, as well as funders and other stakeholders.


Workshop Objectives

By the end of this full-day training, participants will:

  • Understand the Quality Construct: Gain familiarity with the concept of "quality" as represented by the Youth PQA.
  • Learn the Youth & School-Age PQA Structure: Understand how to use and score the Youth and the School-Age PQA instrument.
  • Develop Observation Skills: Enhance observation and note-taking skills to produce detailed and accurate anecdotal evidence.
  • Master the Assess-Plan-Improve Cycle: Comprehend and apply the Assess-Plan-Improve cycle effectively.
  • Apply Scoring Skills: Practice scoring Youth and School-Age PQA items.
  • Create an Implementation Plan: Develop a plan for conducting self-assessments.


Training Format

This training will be delivered in-person. A limited number of online training slots with pre-work assignments will soon be available. If you are interested in participating online, please contact [email protected].

All workshops are develop with opportunities to cross collaborate, create, learn and share. Please be mindful of workshops being interactive through video, chat or audio responses. If you're unable to actively participate, please share this with our providers during the workshop.
