Grab a beer and be transported by the haunting beauty of the pipes!The St. Louis Scottish Games Professional Solo Piping competition will be at the Schlafly Tap Room, 2100 Locust, in midtown St. Louis on Friday, May 10th, 2024. The piobaireachd competition (the classical music of the highland bagpipe) will begin at 4pm. The three light music events (6/8 March event, March Strathspey and Reel event, and Hornpipe/Jig event) will begin approximately at 7pm. This will be in "recital format" where each player takes the stage and performs all three sets of tunes with brief tuning allowed between sets.
Come down and enjoy music from some of the finest competing pipers in the US, many of whom have taken prizes in the biggest international events in Scotland!
The competition will be in the second floor Club Room. A bar will be available in the Club Room, but please refrain from ordering drinks while the pipers are competing in order to maintain a quiet and respectful environment during the competition. You are welcome to order drinks between competitors or even quietly while they are tuning on the stage. Please use your best judgment and be respectful of the competitors and the judge. Additionally, there are two bars downstairs on either side of the building where you are welcome to socialize. There will be no food service on the second floor, but you can grab a table downstairs and enjoy a meal at any time. The Tap Room closes at 10pm.
