‘Tailored for Two-Year-Olds’: Thinking about 2-year-olds and how to support them in practice and provision
This presentation will give an overview of key ideas regarding the play, development and learning of 2-year-olds, through a holistic and abundance lens of 2-year-olds’ key characteristics.
We will consider key aspects of practice that support 2-year olds’ well-being, emphasising the whole child and the links between all aspects of their experience, including:
The fundamental importance of personal, social, and emotional development for all aspects of learning and development.
The importance of responsive and attuned relationships and interactions with 2-year-olds to support wellbeing, communication, and learning.
The centrality of movement for brain development and understanding of the world.
We will also think about how we come to understand two-year-olds better and what we need as practitioners in order to support them well.
There will be the opportunity to take part in workshops focussing on planning for the youngest children, pedagogy and high quality interactions and developing your curriculum. The day will also include a tour of our Outstanding provision to support your professional development.
