‘Constitutionalising Anarchy in World Politics’
Come and kickstart your 5th of November celebrations with a lecture on anarchism by Professor Alex Prichard! He will introduce the broad themes of his forthcoming co-authored book Constitutionalising Anarchy, to be published by Cambridge University Press next year. He'll tell the story of how this ten year project came to be, and where it sits in his wider research project. The talk will defend the merits of anarchy over sovereignty in our homes, workplaces and in civil society: anarchist constitutionalising isn’t just for anarchists - it’s for everyone!

Professor Alex Prichard joined the University of Exeter as a lecturer in International Relations in 2012, and has mainly taught IR theory and the history of anarchist political thought in that time. Professor Prichard was DoE for Politics as the pandemic hit, College DPGR after that, and is now Director of Research for SPSPA. He became active in the Exeter UCU branch in 2016 and was elected branch President in 2022, serving for a year before taking up an ISRF mid-career fellowship. He is now enjoying his second year as branch Co-Chair. Professor Prichard ’s research on anarchist constitutional politics has also been funded by the ESRC, and he had an impact case study on this topic in the last REF.
