Process Wall: Kaisla Kyyhkynen “Gossip Shop for Lazy People”Aug 15-24th 2025
Opening on Fri 15 Aug, 16-18:00
Kaisla Kyyhkynen (b. 1995) is a Helsinki-based visual artist and musician working in the intersection of painting and installation. Kaisla has for a long time drawn inspiration from everyday life, situations and relations; experiences and moments that are cemented in time through figurative drawing, painting and collage, coming together in colorful and playful installations alongside ready-mades and found objects. She is interested in painting as something that people can wear—creating a loop where moments turn into paintings, and those paintings become part of new moments.
Kaisla graduated from the Art Academy of Helsinki spring 2024, and run Kiss my ARS galleria together with Leik Silvestrini & Vilma Määttänen. Their work has been shown in Vapaan Taiteen Tila, Galleria Longa & Stansvik forest, Helsinki; Stenkolsgalleriet, Göteborg; Magyar Műhely Galéria, Budapest; Galleri Seilduken, Oslo; Voikkaa, Kouvola, among others. She also plays and sings in Riitta Tuli Kylään and Grandiradio, whose cassette can also be bought from the Myymälä2 shop.
In Myymälä2 the Process Wall will turn into an installation consisting of silk paintings with motifs from the artist’s everyday life. Friends, phones, bio waste, basketball, dickpicks, scenes from their studio. Throughout the exhibition period, the artist will be present a few hours each opening day, playing with the composition, conducting live-editing, as well as working from perception through site-specific painting and drawing. Kaisla is a believer of mutual aid, and invites audiences to bring something to the installation that can help someone else, such as a bus card that you don’t need for a few days. In the opening there is already one thing that may benefit those of us who are looking for a good deal.
