About the programme
You’re probably familiar with 3D cinema – think Avatar or Gravity. But 3D photography is a fascinating niche in its own right, with a rich history dating back to Victorian times. In this workshop, participants will learn how to make stereoscopic (3D) images, using just a smartphone or basic camera. Stereoscopic images look two-dimensional to the naked eye, but three-dimensional and ‘alive’ when seen through a stereo viewer. At the end of the workshop, each participant will get their own stereo viewer to take home, and the knowledge and skills to make 3D images of their own.
Participants are advised to bring their smartphones for the best learning experience.
About the speaker
Sroyon Mukherjee is a photographer who works with both digital and analogue media, and also develops and prints photographs in his home darkroom. Sroyon has experience running photography and darkroom workshops for NUS Museum as well as the London School of Economics Photography Society. His work has been exhibited at NUS Museum, Muestra Internacional de Fotografía Estenopeica (Argentina / Mexico) and the Worldwide Pinhole Photography Day gallery, among others.
Additionally, Sroyon is a member of the writing team behind 35mmc and Casual Photophile and has also been featured on the Photopocene podcast and the Ilford Photo website. Sroyon's 3D (stereoscopic) photography has been featured by the London Stereoscopic Company, at NUS Museum in Singapore, Festival de Pinhole (Perú) and Estenopeica Sin Fronteras (Oaxaca, Mexico).
