About this Event
Join us for a creative morning with Vancouver poet laureate Fiona Tinwei Lam as she shares her City Poems project, offering teachers innovative ways to integrate poetry, multimedia, and collaboration into the classroom. We’ll explore how to connect students with Chinatown and Vancouver, fostering belonging and cultural awareness through place-based learning. Teachers can also engage with our teaching collection and school programs.
About City Poems
The Vancouver Poet Laureate’s City Poems Project aims to stimulate public engagement and interest in poetry about historical, cultural and ecological sites within the unceded, ancestral territory of the Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh peoples that we now know as Vancouver. The City Poems Project started with a poetry contest for youth, emerging and established poets, culminating in a wide range of poems, videos, and free learning resources for teachers.
