About this Event
The lineup for this concert sounds a little bit like a "Who´s Who" of musicians of the D.C. area: On reeds, the head of the group, is Ralf Böcker from Germany. He was a busy reedman in Hamburg with several bands of his own, playing in jazz festivals, music projects and so on. He recently settled in the DC area and has become devoted to the local jazz scene. Ralf's focus is traditional jazz. He is a big fan of Sidney Bechet and this concert features tunes which Bechet either wrote or played, like "Dans les Rues D´Antibes", "Petite Fleur" and "Wild Cat Blues".
Brian Priebe, trombone, is a gifted music director, singer and world-class trombone, Swiss alphorn, and Norwegian lure player who has played for in the DC area for over 35 years. John O'´Brien, banjo and guitar, is also very well known in the area. Dave Marsh, bass, is a versatile musician and music teacher who’s at home playing various styles of music, including jazz, Latin and Caribbean. And finally on drums there’s Greg Holloway. Greg is a DC native who received an undergraduate degree in Music Education and Percussion Performance from Howard University. Greg is currently the staff drummer/percussionist for Metro Stage, performs at various venues in the Metro area and is Director of Percussion at Flint High School. Greg has recently joined the adjunct jazz faculty at American University.
