Thinking about starting a private practice, but not sure where to begin? Whether you’re just dreaming about it or already taking your first steps, this workshop will walk you through the essentials of launching and sustaining a successful private practice.

Led by Janel Holland, LCSW, ACS/QS, CCTP-II, a seasoned clinician and supervisor with over 20 years of experience, Private Practice 101 will cover the practical, financial, and clinical considerations you need to know—without the overwhelm. You’ll leave with clarity, confidence, and an actionable plan to get started.

This workshop will provide a general overview of the requirements, skills, and resources necessary for starting a clinical private practice. Attendees will participate in an interactive, hands-on learning environment and walk away with new ideas, strategies, and plans for building their own private practice.

1. Overcome fear and negative thoughts about becoming an entrepreneur
2. Understand the basic physical requirements for starting a practice—even on a shoestring budget
3. Identify the business skills needed to succeed
4. Explore different ways to get paid, including accepting insurance vs. private pay
5. Recognize and avoid the biggest ethical pitfalls in private practice
