About this Event
Private Fostering Training
Private fostering is when a child under the age of 16 (or 18 if they have a disability) is cared for by someone other than a parent or close relative for more than 28 days without the involvement of their local authority/social care. This course aims to raise awareness of private fostering and help practitioners to identify when children are being privately fostered and know how to respond appropriately.
Objectives:
By the end of the session, participants will:
- Understand what Private Fostering is;
- Understand why children might be privately fostered;
- Understand the responsibilities of the local authority and other partner agencies; and
- Understand how to identify when a child is privately fostered and what action should be taken.
