Presented by the Friends of Broughty Ferry Library, this talk covers a variety of private and charitable schools in Dundee which operated over the last two hundred years. Perhaps the most iconic is the High School of Dundee which can trace its roots back to 1239. The Industrial Schools spanned one hundred and thirty-seven years and catered for some of the most vulnerable young people in our town. The Dundee Royal Orphan Institution and the Dundee Institution for the Deaf and Dumb also played significant roles in the lives of some children.
