Welcome to Prints from Place. Join Ieuan Edwards of The Black Gold Press for a two-day immersive printmaking workshop at the Kent Mining Museum, Betteshanger. The workshop combines creativity with an immersive look at the history of the site, making it perfect for art lovers, heritage enthusiasts and anyone seeking a memorable, hands-on experience.
Over the course of the two days you'll:
- explore this iconic heritage industrial site
- hear from an ex-miner and enjoy exclusive access to the Kent Coalfield Archive of tools, blueprints and more
- learn the fundamentals of linocut printmaking using the reduction method
- create a two-colour print inspired by your experience
No experience required. Top quality materials provided.
Just bring your curiosity, an apron and a willingness to get inky.
Light refreshments provided. Lunch is available onsite at the wonderful Lamp Room cafe.
10am - 4pm both days.

About the organiser
Ieuan Edwards is a linocut printmaker and artist from Broadstairs, Kent. His work explores themes including industry, ritual and heritage through bold and intricate linocut prints.
Ieuan's prints have been exhibited at the Royal Academy, the Mall Galleries, Somerset House, Bankside Gallery and the Turner Contemporary and are held in private collections across the UK and beyond.
His Prints from Place workshops are far from your average printmaking class. Designed for curious beginners, these immersive, site-specific experiences invite participants to engage with unique locations - from mining museums to heritage fairgrounds, learning from experts and creating linocut prints that respond directly to place, memory and material.
