Printmaking using a gel plate. This workshop shows you how to create unique monoprints with textures and layering.This workshop introduces the joy of monotype printmaking (monoprinting) using a gel plate. You’ll be using stencils and professional printmaking ink to produce monotypes - creating results normally achieved only using an etching press. By working from a gel plate you’ll get surprising and unexpected one-off prints. In this introduction workshop you’ll be shown how to prepare the gel and take prints, how to create different effects and how to overprint your work to create colour mixes.You’ll learn how to take prints in different ways to get amazing results fast, using stencils, shapes and layering.
This workshop is aimed at adults and will take place within our new workshop space within Broad St Mall.
There are different class options available so after this introductory session you will be able to sign up for more, or just print away on your own.

About our workshop host:
Linda Newcombe is an artist and illustrator who specialises in experimental printmaking and pictorial storytelling. Linda became a Jelly artist in 1994 after graduating from Central Saint Martins College and was with us for about 10 years. She has been teaching for over 20 years and hosting face-to-face and online workshops at Jelly since 2018. Linda currently also facilitates our Associate Artists scheme.
