With the Gardens as inspiration, you will use the process of dye sublimation to create botanical designs on fabric using a heat press. We will start the day looking at examples of designs and learning the printing technique. Then there will be the opportunity to collect inspiration and leaves from the Gardens and learn how to prepare them for printing using disperse dyes. You will prepare backgrounds and consider texture, colour and design before printing onto fabric. Each print is unique and often suprising, and you will go home with some printed fabric ready to display or use in other textiles projects. Each design will be wonderfully unique.
Clare Walsh is has been a qualified teacher of Art and Design for 35 years, including five years teaching adult workshops in printed textiles. She has been a practising artist for many years, specialising in screen printing onto linen, designs inspired by plants, gardens, the seasons and countryside.
