Thursday 3 October1 – 3 pm
For high school aged children 12 to 17 years.
In this workshop, you will be inspired by Jennifer’s distinctive textile art practice to create small artworks on repurposed fabric. Emphasizing experimental mark-making and self-expression, you will first create shapes and patterns from handmade paper stencils. Jennifer will direct you in using these stencils with printmaking techniques to create colourful designs on recycled material. This workshop is an opportunity to delve into screen printing, dabble in mono-printing, master basic embroidery skills to adorn and combine the printed textiles. The outcome will be your own to discover in this open-outcome workshop where you will be given guidance but encouraged to take your own direction. Jennifer’s gentle approach and experience will foster personal creativity and provide support while encouraging you to discover your unique artistic journey.
In the workshop you will:
design and cut paper stencils
experiment with mono-printing and screen-printing
learn simple embroidery techniques
You will leave with a collection of small experiments, your own decorated piece of fabric and a generous amount of inspiration to take into your own art projects at home.
