We did a big clean of the new bridge-to-bridge path on Okaloosa Island before the grand opening in October, and it needs it again! This will be the first of three upcoming cleanups on the Eglin beaches on the east end of Okaloosa Island. https://maps.app.goo.gl/BRSX6X3xmQcX23P47 or coordinates 30.390116, -86.539129 should get you to the access point on Miracle Stip Pkwy/Hwy 98. Pick up your gear there, then stay on the multiuse path or follow the sand path through the dunes to the beach.
*Please do not park on the new paved bike/foot path!*
**IMPORTANT!**
This strip of beach is under the control of Eglin Air Force Base. It is open to the public with a FREE permit, available at https://eglin.isportsman.net/. If you plan to go to the beach, thee law requires a current permit. If you stay in the multiuse path, you will not need a permit. The process now includes a background check that takes several days, so start now if you don't have a pass already! For step-by-step instructions to obtain a permit, click here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Fq4t3Y0bwkVKfjpnbEXtbc6XFpvImtelZv6q4ZSOFQA/edit?usp=sharing
**You can be fined if you are caught on Eglin beaches without a permit!**
We will bring buckets, grabbers, and gloves for everyone to use. Please wear close-toed shoes and bring water! Remember, cleanups are canceled for rain, thunder, or lightning. See you out there!
