About this Event
Dr. Michael Fine discusses how we can fix healthcare and ensure all Rhode Islanders have primary care.
Dr. Fine will speak about his vision for primary care for all in RI via neighborhood health centers. In addition to talking about neighborhood health centers, he will discuss the reasons for the shortage of primary care doctors in general and in RI in particular and how individuals and groups can lobby to change the situation.
Michael Fine, MD, is a writer, community organizer, and family physician. He is the chief health strategist for the City of Central Falls, RI, and a former Director of the Rhode Island Department of Health, 2011–2015. He has been the President and Board Chair Member of Primary Care for All Americans since 2023. He is currently the Board Vice Chair and Co-Founder of the Scituate Health Alliance. He is the recipient of the Barbara Starfield Award, the John Cunningham Award, and the June Rockwell Levy Public Service Award.
