About this Event

The Library is open, because… indeed: reading is fundamental! And so is education. That’s why we are introducing you to Pride University. An initiative by Vu Pride, HvA Pride, UvA Pride, Student Pride, A.S.V. Gay, All-in foundation, Pride and Sports and The Student Hotel. Aimed to educate you and each other about everything the LGBTQI+ spectrum has to offer. On weekdays during Pride Week (2nd till 6th of August, a new lecture is hosted between 5 and 6 p.m. with afterwards an opportunity to meet, discuss and talk – all within the latest covid-19 measures, of course. Are you ready to learn with us?

Friday, August 6th: Excludingmechanisms at university, in sports or at work – Maike van Oyen (All-in Foundation)

Exclusion has many faces and can be found anywhere, at any club, university or sports field. Wherever there are social groups, our perception of others is distorted by the way our brain naturally groups others. In this interactive workshop Maike van Oyen from the All-in Foundation discusses the many (invisible) faces of exclusion. With the audience we will discuss how to recognize and address the different kinds of exclusion and bias. Finally, together with Pride and Sports ambassadors Laura and Bowi, we have a closer look at how exclusion takes place in real life.

This event is organized within the Covid measurements. This means that limited spaces are available within our location, you snooze you loose!
