A breath work for athletes and ice bath workshop benefitting Verna Felton
About this Event

Celebrate the first days of summer by treating yourself to a breathwork and ice bath workshop for a great cause! Verna Felton is a Boston based 501(c)(3) non profit organization that works to empower the LGBTQIA+ community to live in their most authentic light by providing unique opportunities and resources that connect them to the transformative art of drag.

In this 2 hour workshop, you'll learn proper breath mechanics and diaphragmatic streching and strengthing. 99% of people don't use their diaphragm or full lung capacity while breathing, forcing you to take more shallow breaths using your shoulders and neck. Since you take 22,000 breaths a day, these improper breath mechanics can lead to lower back pain, digestive issues, pelvic floor problems, mental health challenges, and a faster time to fatigue while exercising or under stress.

We'll practice proper breathing patterns using slow, stress-relieving breath exercises. Then, we'll enage with faster, high ventilatory Wim-Hof Style breath to release stored energy and work past mental blocks. Finally, we'll lock in these skills by practicing them under the best low-stakes stressor, the ice bath, to explore our full potential.

Schedule:

11:30 AM Welcome & Introduction to Breathwork

11:45 AM Breath Mechanics & Practice

12:30 PM Guided Ice Bath

Please bring a towel, bathing suit or clothes you're comfortable plunging in, and water bottle!
