The Pride Rally is an annual tradition in honour of the 250 people who first gathered at the Manitoba Legislative Building in 1987. It occurs at 10am on Parade Sunday at the Manitoba Legislative Building and includes speeches from a representative of each level of government and many special invited guests from the community.

PARADE

The Pride Parade begins after the Pride Rally and makes its way through downtown Winnipeg. The parade features a Grand Marshal, honorary Youth Marshal, and honorary Community Group Marshal, all of which are nominated by the community.

Timeline

  • 10:00 am – Rally starts (Manitoba Legislative Building, North Steps)
  • 10:45 am – Rally ends
  • 11:00 am – Parade begins at Memorial and St Mary Ave
  • The parade ends near Blue Cross Park (Goldeyes)
  • 12:00pm – Day 2 of the Pride Festival at the Forks begins!

YEARLY THEME

A theme has been selected for each year since 2010. The theme reflects current events and contexts of the 2SLGBTQ+ community and helps shape festivities for that year.

Pride Winnipeg is excited to release our 2024 theme — “Transcend Together”.

“Transcend Together” embodies the collective strength and unity within the queer community. It emphasizes the empowerment and resilience of trans individuals, advocating for the protection of trans rights and the celebration of their unique identities. This theme embraces inclusivity, highlighting the diverse spectrum of identities within the queer community and fostering solidarity among all members. It draws inspiration from the resilience of the community throughout history, emphasizing that together, we transcend barriers and stand strong in support of one another.

Parade Tips

  • For safety, we ask that spectators do not join the parade (between or alongside floats and entries) while it is in progress. Spectators may join at the end of the procession to follow the parade to the Festival grounds.
  • If you require first aid, flag down a member of our safety or security team, or a Pride Winnipeg organizer (bright pink shirt).
  • Bring a filled reusable water bottle; we encourage folks not to use single-use plastics!
  • Wear sunscreen and weather-appropriate clothing!
  • To respect other spectators, please no smoking or vaping along the parade route.
  • Dress in your Pride Sunday best!
  • Celebrate, be loud, and be proud!
