How can we fight injustice together? Often enough we see movements working hard fighting racism, sexism, homophobia and classism.
How can these movements support each other and dismantle institutional structures that only benefit the privileged?
This Pride Of Color, moderator Abbie Boutkabout will talk with writer Wim Peumans about his new book ‘Habibi’. They will also discuss the importance of white, heterosexual and/or cisgender allies in the fight against homophobia and transphobia.
After the book presentation, more experts will join the conversation: Samira Azabar - co-founder of BOEH!, imam Ludovic-Mohamed Zahed of the CALEM Institute and Mala - artist & human rights activist. They will talk about the importance of intersectionality.
This talk will be in English and will be accompanied by musical intermezzo's by Vee Lourenco.
You can also visit the exposition of painter & artist Sami Ammar from 29th of June until July 11th.
*Intersectionality:
the complex, cumulative way in which the effects of multiple forms of discrimination (such as racism, sexism, homophobia and classism) combine, overlap, or intersect, especially in the experiences of marginalized individuals or groups
