Based on the book of the same name--formerly known as Father of Frankenstein--by Christopher Bram.
Ian McKellen delivers an Academy Award®-nominated performance as Whale, a once-powerful Hollywood filmmaker now retired and in failing health. His loyal housekeeper Hanna (Lynn Redgrave) disapproves of his sharp wit and revolving door of lovers, but everything changes when Whale befriends his new gardener, Clayton Boone (Brendan Fraser), a former Marine and Korean War veteran. What begins as curiosity evolves into a complex, unexpected friendship in this moving exploration of memory, identity, and human connection.
