The 15th Oon Lecture: Delivered by Professor Peter Sasieni
About this Event

The 15th Oon Lecture will be given by Professor Peter Sasieni, Professor of Cancer Epidemiology and co-lead for the Centre for Cancer Screening at Queen Mary, University of London.

Preventive medicine has had some stunning successes over the last 40 years, and biomedical and technological advances should facilitate further progress over the coming decades. But despite the adage “prevention is better than cure” there is increasing opposition to preventive medicine.

In this lecture, Professor Sasieni will review the history of cervical cancer elimination and consider the potential for new cancer screening programmes, including the multi-cancer screening, to reduce the number of people dying from cancer in the UK.
