Presented by the U.S. Secret Service in partnership with the U.S. Attorney’s Office-Middle District of Florida, Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and Florida State College at Jacksonville
For over 20 years, the U.S. Secret Service National Threat Assessment Center (NTAC) has conducted research on the thinking and behaviors of those who commit acts of targeted school violence in an effort to prevent future acts from occurring. Key findings from this research indicate that establishing multidisciplinary threat assessment teams and encouraging the reporting of concerning behaviors are critical steps in keeping communities safe.
This presentation will demonstrate that targeted violence is preventable. It will highlight relevant past incidents and include findings and recommendations from NTAC’s latest research publications on targeted school violence and averted school attacks at K-12 schools and institutions of higher learning in the United States. It will focus on using a multidisciplinary approach to identify, assess, and intervene with students exhibiting concerning or threatening behaviors as early as possible.
All attendees must pre-register by August 4, 2022. This is NOT active-shooter response training.
