Grab your popcorn & join us for our new movie series: Presidential Popcorn Nights! In the month leading up to the 2024 Election, we'll be celebrating as the City of Presidents with two movies on presidential history.
Our first selection will be Amistad (1997). In 1839, slaves start a shipboard rebellion against their captors while en route to America. Captured, they are imprisoned in New England, where a sympathetic former slave convinces a property lawyer to prove the kidnapped Africans were "stolen goods". Later, the case moves to the Supreme Court, where former President John Quincy Adams stirs emotions with a powerful defense. Rated: R, Runtime: 152 minutes
Our second selection will be Frost/Nixon (2008). Frank Langella reprises his Tony Award-winning role in director Ron Howard's adaptation of Peter Morgan's acclaimed Broadway hit that recreates the explosive 1977 TV interview between disgraced former president Richard Nixon and David Frost (Michael Sheen). Rated: R, Runtime: 122 minutes
So bring your popcorn & join us for a movie night!
