Day 2 of our Cannning Planning Courses. Come to one or both! We are opening our homestead to a small group of up to10 people for some hands on, outdoor homestead pressure canning!

Let's discuss simple & age-old food storage & preservation techniques of non refrigerated meat options. Once you know how to pressure can, you can preserve and free up freezer space while creating simple meals and preserve the seasons harvest all year long.

- We will discuss raw pack VS hot pack of chicken, rabbit, venison, beef etc while demonstrating a raw pack method. Not only will this render any older rabbit or chicken wonderfully soft & tasty, it also saves time at dinner prep for healthy "fast food" meals. Take a jar of shredded meat out to quickly throw together dinner after a long day. Discussion of nose to tail use of rabbit including dehydrating rabbit jerky! Taste test some pre canned chicken or beef.

-Blaze will share her healthy version of canned spam and demo the recipe preparation as well as finished product (YUM) along with discussions on canning bone broths, stews and get creative with nose to tail eating, canning sausage, Souse & more.

Pressure canning does take more time so we will jump right in to get the process going and have much discussion as we wait. Pressure canning should never be intimidating & we will take the load off with an overview of the pressure canners parts as well as the importance of sanitation, pressure gauge, timing & necessary precautions without instilling fear,

Go beyond the basics to fill your pantry with your own edible creations and keep the bounty of each seasons harvest on your plate all year long! Take home what you help make in class (two jars) as well as all the recipes to guide you through your new homestead skills.
