Join us as Christen Sundquist and Rebecca Hunter of the Elgin Heritage Commission take a look at the history and the neo-Classic architecture of "Elgin's Hidden Gem," the Elgin Public Museum of Natural History & Anthropology inside Lords Park! Constructed between 1904-1907, it is the oldest building in the State of Illinois built to be a museum that is still in operation as a museum today. You'll also "meet" park namesakes and museum visionaries George and Mary Lord, whose unique partnership in philanthropy still resonates throughout Elgin more than a century after their time. And, take a self-guided tour around the museum, inside and out, to enjoy the architectural features and exhibits. Admission is $5, $3 for Museum Members. No registration is required.
