Preschool Allotment Sessions β Hands-On Nature Fun for Little Gardeners!Give your little ones the perfect outdoor learning experience at our fortnightly Preschool Allotment Sessions at Barton Way Allotments, starting from Wednesday 11th June!
These fun, hands-on sessions introduce young children to gardening, nature, and the joy of growing their own food, all while developing important skills in a safe and engaging environment. Led by parents and accompanied by the Parish Rangers, this is a wonderful way to encourage a love for the outdoors.

What to expect -
Led by our friendly Parish Rangers, these fortnightly sessions are all about helping little ones discover the joys of growing plants, getting messy in the soil, and learning about nature in a fun and playful way. Each session explores a different part of gardening with simple activities that are just right for young children.

Weβll dig into the world of plants and learn how to start growing our very own from tiny seeds and cuttings!
π Session 2 β Magic Compost
Letβs find out how old banana peels and apple cores can turn into super soil to help our plants grow big and strong!
π½ Session 3 β Plant Puzzles (Crop Rotation)
Weβll play a fun garden game by moving plants around to keep the soil happy and healthy.
πΌ Session 4 β Plant Friends (Companion Planting)
Some plants love to grow next to their best buddies! Weβll discover which ones like to stick together and how to keep the garden blooming all season long.
βοΈ Session 5 β Snip Snip! (Pruning & Thinning)
With gentle snipping and careful hands, weβll help our plants grow by giving them a little trim and some extra room.
π½οΈ Session 6 β Plant Food Time!
Just like us, plants get hungry too! Weβll learn what they like to eat and how we can feed them to help them grow.
π§Ί Session 7 β Harvest Party!
Time to pick the goodies weβve grown! Weβll enjoy a harvest celebration and take home some of our garden treats.
These sessions are perfect for little ones to get curious about nature, use their hands, and have fun while learning where their food comes from. Children must be accompanied by a parent or carer, and all tools and materials will be provided.
