This year marks the 100th anniversary of the institution of the feast of Christ the King, which was established by Pope Pius XI in 1925 by means of the encyclical "Quas primas." In this encyclical, the Holy Father also explains the doctrine of the social Kingship of Christ. He intended for the feast of Christ the King to serve as an antidote to the secularism of the modern world. To help us prepare for the celebration of the feast in this centennial year, our pastor, Canon Altiere, will give a spiritual conference explaining the history, theology and liturgy of the feast.
Before the talk, you may want to attend the October Rosary Devotions in church at 6 p.m., all the more so as October 7th is the feast of the Most Holy Rosary.
The talk will be held at 7 p.m. in the church hall. The parish will provide hot and cold beverages, but feel free to bring snacks to share.
