Monday 29th September 2025
Are you a parent carer of a young person with SEND aged 13–25? This event is for you!
🌟 What is Preparing for Adulthood?
Preparing for Adulthood is the journey that begins when a young person is in Year 9 (around age 13–14). It’s never too early to start thinking about it, and support can continue until the young person turns 25.
From Year 9 onwards, schools, families, professionals, and the local authority should start working together to explore the most appropriate pathways into adulthood.
This could include:
Education, training or employment
Independent living
Community inclusion
Join us at Positive Steps to Adulthood to:
✅ Meet local service providers
✅ Speak with local authority representatives
✅ Hear first-hand experiences from families and young people
✅ Explore the support available to help your young person transition into adulthood
