Synopsis

Gain valuable tips and insights on how to prepare your submissions package in an interactive workshop with bestselling author Lauren Ho, who will be joined in the last hour of the session by her agent and author, Katelyn Detweiler from Jill Grinberg Literary Management (US) for a Q&A to discuss what agents are looking for when they offer representation.

For aspiring authors who have completed or made significant progress towards completing their manuscript or novel and are preparing to pitch their projects in 2023.



About Speakers

Lauren Ho (@hellolaurenho) is the author of critically-acclaimed contemporary adult novels Last Tang Standing, and more recently, Lucie Yi Is Not A Romantic, which was a Cosmopolitan and Shondaland recommended read and rated 4 out of 4 stars by USA Today. Her YA debut Bite Me, Royce Taslim, will be a lead title published by Disney/ Hyperion in April 2024. Hailing from Malaysia, she is currently based in Singapore, where she's ostensibly working on her next novels while attempting to parent.


Katelyn Detweiler attended Pennsylvania State University as a Schreyer Honors College scholar, receiving a B.A. in English emphasis in Creative Writing, and a minor in Women's Studies, interning at the Penn State Press during her time there. Post College she moved to New York City for the Columbia Publishing Course, and from there worked in the marketing department of Macmillan Children's Publishing Group. She joined Jill Grinberg Literary Management in 2010 and represents a client list that spans all age groups and categories, with an emphasis on fresh perspectives and strong voices. Katelyn is also a published YA author and has a debut adult novel (co-authored with her husband) publishing in 2023. She lives in Brooklyn with her husband and two children, and when she's not writing, reading, and revising books, she enjoys venturing into the world outside, exploring green spaces, and sampling new foods.



Cancellation:

The talk can be cancelled or postponed two weeks before the talk date if the minimum number of participants is not met. Participants will be fully refunded for talks cancelled by us.

Participants who are unable to attend a talk they have registered for are to inform us of the reason two weeks before the talk date. They will be fully refunded in the event of extenuating and mitigating circumstances (E.g. illness, bereavement, accidents) . Those who inform us up to 5 working days before the talk date will receive a 50% refund. Those who did not turn up at the talk will not receive a refund.

Upon registration, you are deemed to have read and understood the cancellation and withdrawal policy and accept the terms contained therein.

Please note there is no lift to the venue.


*For student & senior citizen tickets, participant will have to present their student pass or senior citizen card on day of talk for verification purposes.
