The pelvic floor supports you, your baby, and your core. This session is for those wondering how to maximize their pelvic health prenatally and prevent issues postpartum. We will cover the following:
- What the pelvic floor is: its normal structure and function, changes during pregnancy and delivery, and common signs to look out for (leakages, pain, prolapse)
- The benefits of preparing your body + the pelvic area for labour and delivery
- Perineal Massage: how to perform internal massage by yourself with pelvic wand or with partner to help relax the pelvic floor
- Breathing Techniques: learn how to relax your pelvic floor with breathing and stretches
- Pushing: learn to use your body to effectively push during labour and delivery
- Kegels: strengthen your pelvic floor, and know how to voluntarily relax and contract it
- How Pelvic Physiotherapy can help maximize your wellness from prevention, preparation, during labour and delivery, to helping return to physical activity during pregnancy and post-partum
- Any questions and concerns you may have
Nav Grewal PT, is a Registered Physiotherapist with a special interest and focus on Women's Health during pregnancy and postpartum. Nav is the owner of Kaaiaa and her team of physiotherapists serve the Calgary region in person at two locations: South Calgary Midwives + Birth Partnership Midwives. They also provide online appointments for all of Alberta.
NOTE: This is an in-person event with limited capacity for 15 birthing persons only. One ticket includes admission for one person only. We may expand to include partners in the future but due to space constraints please note we can only host you at this time. Please bring your own snacks and drinks, washrooms are available and free parking on street + parking lot.
