Postanowiłam, że odtworzę i opiszę historie tych, którym wtedy odebrano prawo do życia, a przez kolejne dziesięciolecia zapomniano o ich istnieniu. Pragnęłam, aby to, co niewyobrażalne, stało się wyrażalne – przez jak najkonkretniej i najszczegółowiej opisane losy ludzi, których pochłonęło. Chciałam w ten sposób napisać swoją księgę pamięci Żydów Nowego Targu lub raczej księgę mojej pamięci o nich.

🗓️ On December 10 at 6:00 p.m., the POLIN Museum will host the premiere of Karolina Panz’s book "I Would Like to Tell You How the City Was Destroyed: The Extermination of the Jewish Nowy Targ." The author will be in conversation with Anna Bikont.
In this work, I sought to reconstruct and narrate the stories of those who were deprived of their right to life and whose existence was consigned to oblivion for decades. My intention was to render the unimaginable communicable—through the most concrete and detailed accounts of the fates of individuals who perished. In doing so, I aspired to create a book of remembrance for the Jews of Nowy Targ, or rather, a book of remembrance dedicated to them.
