Overview
NAEMT’s Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) is recognized around the world as the leading continuing education program for prehospital emergency trauma care. The mission of PHTLS is to promote excellence in trauma patient management by all providers involved in the delivery of prehospital care through global education. PHTLS is developed by NAEMT in cooperation with the American College of Surgeons’ Committee on Trauma. The Committee provides the medical direction and content oversight for the PHTLS program.
The 16-hour PHTLS Hybrid course is comprised of the 8-hour online modules for the PHTLS Hybrid Course, followed by 8 hours in the classroom.
Prerequisites
You must register for and complete the online portion of the course on the NAEMT website prior to attending the in-person portion. You will need to bring a printed copy of your completion certificate to class in order to participate.
The required materials for the Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) Hybrid Course include:
- The Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS), Tenth Edition textbook and course manual.
- The online modules for the PHTLS Hybrid Course. Once activated, you will have two weeks to complete the online portion of the class.
These are included in the cost of the course and will be provided to you once registration is closed. Approximately 3 weeks prior to class.
Target Audience
Recommended 16-hour course for EMTs, paramedics, nurses, physician assistants, physicians and other prehospital providers.
Continuing Education
The 16-hour PHTLS Hybrid course is comprised of the 8-hour online modules for the PHTLS Hybrid Course, followed by 8 hours in the classroom.
Cost
$225 - Includes all course materials.
Breakfast, lunch, and snacks will be provided on the in person day of skills assesment.
Cancellation / Withdrawal / No Show
2 weeks prior to class, or if materials have been sent out, there will be a $100 fee to cover course materials.
Eventbrite fees are non-refundable.
PHTLS Class Reimbursement for Nebraska EMS Providers:
A substantial part of the cost for this class may be eligible for reimbursement through Nebraska state DHHS EMS specialty course reimbursement funds.
This reimbursement is available only to Nebraska licensed active EMS providers. Up to $180.00 may be reimbursed for specialty courses like PHTLS. The application must be submitted to the state at least 14 days in advance of the course, and the course completion certificate and other documentation must be returned to the state within 30 days after the course. As noted in the funding guidelines, our PHTLS class is an eligible course for this reimbursement program. Please note that the Office of Emergency Health Systems reserves the right to reimburse less than or deny reimbursement based on funding limitations.
This program is administered by the Nebraska state DHHS and we do not have any input or control over this process. You must apply for this reimbursement individually outside of our registration process. We cannot assist or offer a pre-course discount based on a reimbursement application.
