PLEASE NOTE OUR SEPTEMBER SESSION WILL BE ON 16TH SEPT as part of the Badenoch Heritage Festival
(FB gremlins will not allow us to edit the date!)
Musicians, singers, poets, storytellers, budding talk-show hosts and stars of stage and screen: you have talents and skills but not enough confidence? You can play your instrument but find an audience scary? You love writing but not sure about mics or people? Or maybe you’re fine with all of that but would just like to polish up your star qualities. We are here to help!
New for 2025, your Storylands co-hosts, Hamish and Merryn, are offering Stagecraft Sessions for young people. These are open, drop-in rehearsal slots ahead of the show where you bring a piece you’re working on and we give LOADS of encouragement and some wee tips for achieving your goals. Things like: taking your time, where the mic should be, where to look, what to do with your hands (and feet) and - most importantly - how to give your best performance and ENJOY it!
These will run before every monthly Storylands Sessions Show, from 5:45 to 6:45pm, in the Kincraig Church Hall. Free and open to all young people from 5 to 25 who have tickets for the Show that night. Everyone under 16 to be accompanied by a guardian. Just drop in, take your turn and encourage the others!
You don’t need to be performing in the Show to come to the Stagecraft Session, but you DO need to stay for at least the first half because we learn so much from watching others perform. PLEASE NOTE: all under-18s are free at the Shows, but all places must be booked and guardians need to buy tickets.

Hamish Napier is a folk musician, composer and tutor; Merryn Glover is a writer, teacher and storyteller. Between them they have over 70 years of performance experience, but they’re really not that old! And they’re definitely good fun.
Hamish taught Stagecraft to folk singers and instrumentalists on the Trad Music degree course at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland for many years.
