The public sharing will be divided into two parts: first, a participatory exploration of The Sitting Score, where audience members will be invited to join in and experience the work. This will serve as both a sharing and a way to gather feedback on the embodied and perceptual aspects of the piece. The second part will be an open conversation, offering space for reflection, dialogue, and exchange around the themes of stillness, queerness, presence, and participatory performance.Heidi Rustgaard is a choreographer, performer, curator, and researcher working across dance and performance. Her transdisciplinary practice explores expanded choreography through queering structures, off-score practices, and relational modes of attention. Recent work integrates objects and sound to evoke poetic and sensory dialogues with time, place, and one another. Central to her research is the concept of One-Note, using a single sound or gesture to expose its inherent multiplicity, and an interest in slowness, subtlety, and non-linear dramaturgies.
Her artistic motivation lies in creating conditions for presence, conviviality, and alternative temporalities. This continues in her project, The Sitting Score, an embodied and durational inquiry into stillness and perception through the simple yet charged act of sitting. Her MRes research at Goldsmiths examined choreographic curation (choreo-curation) through queer methodologies, positioning wobble and uncertainty as forms of resistance.
