Koreografi for åpne rom [choreography for open spaces] is a performance in the making, by Marit Meløe and Anders Engebretsen. The project is a development of experiences from an artist residency in Øksnes (Vesterålen), where all of our explorations were documented through maps. Using these maps as starting points, our aim is to explore strategies for translating or transforming them into choreography.In the project we’re interested in how we can apply the performer perspective as a catalyst and driving force for our choreographic collaboration. We’ve previously done a lot of work for public spaces, and we are curious about how we can further develop our practice by bringing these perspectives and experiences into the studio.
About the Artists
Meløe/Engebretsen consists of dance artists Marit Meløe and Anders Engebretsen. Both have collaborated in numerous stage productions together, and have also extensively worked with dance in public spaces with their own projects. The duo draws inspiration from people, urban structures, and natural landscapes, with a common thread in their work being an open and playful approach to dance and movement. Together, they create experiences where dance art facilitates new connections and opens up fresh perspectives between individuals and their surroundings. Both hold educational backgrounds from England and have been touring together with their own works since 2020, performing at festivals and cultural venues both nationally and internationally, from Hammerfest to Helsinki.
