Dissolve blocks and move towards radiant health and well-being with traditional breathing techniques that will enhance and enrich your life.Pranayama, the practice of ancient yogic breathing techniques, consciously controls the flow of breath, and thus enhances the flow of energy in the body. A regular, balanced pranayama practice increases prana (life energy), thereby inviting greater mental clarity, heightened healing potential and deeper self-understanding. Pranayama, like other yogic practices, is about being more fully alive and well, and is a particularly helpful in the preparation for meditation.
This workshop will provide instruction and practice of pranayama techniques that you can integrate into your current practice.

Sharon Smith teaches Gentle and Restorative yoga. A 2006 graduate of Kripalu’s teacher training, Sharon has studied with Tias Little, Sarah Powers, Anna Forrest, Kofi Busia, Michael Carroll (Yoganand), and Richard Faulds (Shoban). She has assisted yoga and meditation workshops at Kripalu. She has been especially influenced by Kripalu’s emphasis on breath, relaxation and self acceptance.
Sharon took her first yoga class in 2003 and quickly fell in love with the practice. She became a yoga teacher following her retirement from a thirty-three year corporate career. Sharon’s classes feature a sweet, slow, stretchy style of yoga focusing on breath, alignment, and the release of tension, encouraging students to go deeply into feeling and to make each posture their own.
“Yoga has helped me find the pure pleasure in being alive on this planet. It allows me to experience each moment of life more fully - all the way down to my bones. It’s an honor to be able to share this wonderful, ancient practice, to help others find the bliss and peace that’s available by going inside and letting go.”
Jude Russell (E-RYT 200, YACEP) is Operations Manager at the studio, and while she's not working out of the studio most days, she's working behind the scenes to keep things running smoothly.
A 2008 graduate of the WHY Power Teacher Training, Jude teaches Gentle, All Levels and Intro to Yoga classes. She’s an ideal teacher for those new to yoga, for those moving towards a stronger power practice, as well as for students working with limitations or restrictions. Jude’s classes feature slower vinyasa, deeper holds, breaking down poses to fine tune alignment, and use of props to more deeply explore poses or to access more difficult postures.
Her teaching is rooted in her own practice and body – integrating WHY Power with elements of gentle, yin and restorative yoga. She has studied with many national teachers (including Tias Little and Cheri Clampett), and has been on staff of the WHY teacher training program since 2010.
