Course overview
Discover what makes quality teaching of History by exploring how to ensure coverage of the National Curriculum through practical creative methods which will engage children in interactive methods which can be adopted and adapted for different age groups or themes, whilst ensuring progression and challenge for all.
We will look at how to develop the skills of young historians with practical ways to develop enquiry and perceptive, historically valid questions, careful observation and critical judgement of evidence and the development of perceptions of the past. There will also be opportunities to share good practice.
Learning Outcomes
This course will...

Present practical ways to encourage a “hands on” approach and ways to put the story back into History, with suggestions of how to evidence in children’s books.

Inspire you how to achieve an engaging interactive approach to the teaching of History through the use of artefacts, pictures and other historical sources.

Unpick the National Curriculum, to fully understand how to ensure coverage of the aims with progression and challenge for all

Provide the opportunity to explore some fantastic resources to bring History alive and a wide range of books, games, packs and artefacts which you can try before you buy!


Bespoke Training
If you wish to train a group of history subject coordinators we can offer this course on a bespoke basis for teaching school alliances, academy chains and clusters of schools, using the school as a venue for the training. Contact Mel Jones for further details at [email protected].

FAQs
Booking
Can I arrange to pay by invoice?
Yes, up to 30 days before the event. Please follow the booking process as normal, then at the order form select ‘Pay by invoice’ from the drop-down menu under ‘Payment method’.
Eventbrite will then send you an automatically-generated invoice via email attachment with your order confirmation. This includes details of how to pay by BACS or cheque and should be forwarded on to your school’s finance department for payment within 30 days.
Within 30 days of the event, payment will need to be via card only. 

When will I receive my delegate information?
Delegate information, including a programme and joining instructions, will be sent directly to the attendee via email one week before the event. Please make sure to check your junk email folders and contact us if you haven't received this.

What's the refund policy?
We are able to refund requests made up to one week before the course. After this point, all invoices will need to be paid regardless of attendance. Please note that in the event of a refund being issued, the Eventbrite booking fees will not be refunded.

On the day
Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
No, all we need is your name. If someone booked on your behalf, please make sure they change the ticket to include your details.

Is catering provided?
A sandwich lunch and tea/coffee will be provided. Please let us know if you have any dietary or access requirements as soon as possible using the contact details above.
