About this Event
Working American families struggle with a high cost of living. Spending on food accounts for a major part of the average budget, yet the food sector features low economic productivity and lackluster competition in critical markets like crop-seed, proteins, food distribution, and retail grocery. This puts Americans at unacceptable risk for high prices.
Enforcement of the U.S. antitrust laws is a major tool for protecting consumers. But antitrust could be doing more to police harmful mergers and business practices that drive up food prices. This one-hour panel brings together experts to unpack this problem and to frame policy solutions that help working Americans.
Confirmed panelists include:
- Diana Moss, Vice President and Director of Competition Policy at the Progressive Policy Institute
- John Breyault, Vice President, Public Policy, Telecommunications and Fraud, National Consumers League
- Andrew Green, Former Senior Advisor for Fair and Competitive Markets, Agricultural Marketing Service, USDA
With opening remarks from:
- Representative Sharice Davids (D-KS 3rd District)
Coffee, tea and snacks will be provided. We look forward to seeing you there!
