About this Event
Empowering Governments with Scalable, Secure, and Swift GenAI Solutions Built on Robust Data
Generative AI (Gen AI) has gained substantial attention since the launch of public tools in 2022, signalling a shift towards widespread adoption across various sectors. In Singapore, where digital technology is deeply embedded in daily life, AI is seen as both familiar and transformative. The Singapore government recognises the potential of AI to enhance human capabilities, streamline operations, and tackle societal challenges. This commitment is reflected in the National AI Strategy, which has facilitated over S$500 million in investments in AI research and established essential governance frameworks.
While progress has been made, the integration of Gen AI in Singapore’s public sector is still at its early stage. A recent survey revealed that while many public sector leaders see the transformative potential of Gen AI, only a small fraction have fully implemented it or are actively working towards deployment. To improve AI readiness, the Singapore government plans to train around 150,000 public officers across various ministries and statutory boards in data science and AI skills. This initiative is part of the second National AI Strategy (NAIS 2.0), aimed at enhancing Singapore's global position while ensuring equitable access to AI benefits.
As Singapore's public sector agencies embark on exploring Gen AI solutions, their potential hinges on balancing innovation with robust data governance. The recently finalised Gen AI governance framework prioritises data security and ethical AI use, ensuring that data protection and transparency are at the forefront—especially in sectors where trust and accountability are crucial. This framework is designed to provide clear guidelines for the responsible deployment of AI technologies, reinforcing the government's commitment to creating a safe and trusted environment for AI integration.
For effective Gen AI integration within government systems, digital leaders in the public sector must focus on scalable data infrastructures and agile deployment tools that can support rapid production of Gen AI applications. These features are designed to streamline the entire process, accelerating the journey from AI development to full-scale production. By providing the tools necessary to scale Gen AI initiatives efficiently, Singapore’s public sector can achieve transformative, secure, and accelerated Gen AI adoption.
